Zubeen Da was like Kanchenjunga - honest, unshakable, and beautiful : Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi arrived in Assam to pay tribute to Zubeen Garg. Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Barjhar airport on Friday and went straight to where Zubeen Garg was cremated in Sonapur. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Debabrata Saikia were also present on the occasion. 

There he paid floral tributes to the portrait of Zubeen Garg and also planted a 'Nahar' sapling, a favourite tree of Zubeen Garg. Rahul Gandhi also took part in the 'Nam-Prasanga' along with 'Ayati' at the samadhi of Zubeen Garg, which has become a holy place for the people of the state. Later, he went straight to Zubeen Garg's residence in Kahilipara and met Zubeen Garg's father Kapil Borthakur and wife Garima Saikia Garg and expressed his condolences. 

Rahul Gandhi said that, 'Zubeen Da was like Kanchenjunga - honest, unshakable, and beautiful.

India and Assam have lost not just an artist, but a towering soul who touched countless hearts.

Zubeen Da’s family, and the people of Assam, deserve nothing less than truth and justice. The government must ensure a swift and transparent investigation.
