Mahabharata's 'Karna' Pankaj Dheer passes away
Sudden demise of veteran actor Pankaj Dheer who made 'Karna' memorable in BR Chopra's 'Mahabharat'. Pankaj Dhir lost his long battle from cancer. He breathed his last at the age of 68. The actor who has been battling cancer for a long time was hospitalised for several days. However, Pankaj Dheer breathed his last yesterday night.
According to sources, Pankaj had reportedly been battling cancer from quite a long time. Although he fought through it, the disease relapsed a few months ago, leaving him extremely unwell. He had also undergone major surgery related to his condition.
Pankaj Dheer became a household name with his powerful performance as Karna in ‘Mahabharat’ (1988). His calm yet commanding presence made the warrior prince one of the most loved and respected characters in Indian television history. His look, dialogue delivery, and strong screen presence turned him into a star overnight.
Apart from Mahabharat, Pankaj has appeared in films like Baadshah, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Tumko Na bhool Payenge, starring Salman Khan and Zameen, starring Ajay Devgn among many others. He had also appeared in TV shows like Sasural Simar Ka, Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, among others.
