Assam's Tanaya Uma Chhetri named in India's squad for Women's World Cup 2025

Wicketkeeper-batsman Uma Chhetri has been named in the Indian squad for the upcoming Women's World Cup. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced that Uma was included in the Indian squad for the upcoming World Cup after Yastika Bhatia suffered a knee injury during the Indian women's team preparatory camp in Visakhapatnam.

Yastika Bhatia is out of the tournament. The BCCI has immediately confirmed Uma Chhetri in her place.

When Harmanpreet Kaur and her team were practising at home ground ahead of the Women's World Cup 2025, Bhatia had to pull out of the tournament due to an injury sustained during training.

The eight team tournament in the 13th edition of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup will begin on September 30 and the final will be held on November 2. India and Sri Lanka will jointly host the 2025 Women's World Cup.

The tournament will be played at a total of four venues across India, including ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and DY Patil Stadium (Navi Mumbai).

However, the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is the only venue where the Women's World Cup 2025 will be held.
