BCCI to be honoured Zubeen Garg

The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 will begin on September 30. The opening ceremony of the Women's World Cup will be held at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The BCCI plans to pay special tribute to Zubeen Garg at the opening ceremony. The 40-minute session will be dedicated to Zubeen Garg.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are in the process of taking a big decision regarding Zubeen Garg. Ahead of the first match of the ICC Women's World Cup in Guwahati, tribute will be paid to Zubeen Garg.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia says, "Recently, the music icon of Assam, Zubeen Garg passed away. Today his mortal remains have arrived in Guwahati and it will be kept for 1-2 days for public homage. There is massive grief in Assam. So, keeping in consonance with that situation and as a person who deserves some respect, Assam Cricket Association maybe with BCCI will have a tribute program at the time of opening (ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025). So, we are planning something by this evening we will finalise it.There will be about 40 minutes program in the name of Zubeen Garg"

India will play Sri Lanka in the Women's World Cup match on September 30. The opening ceremony was supposed to take place at the start of the game. But now the cricketing world will pay tribute to Zubeen Garg before the match.

Zubeen Garg,  heartthrob from Assam, passed away on September 19 in Singapore. The beloved artist passed away at the age of 52. The BCCI secretary said that 40 minutes before the start of the match will be dedicated to Zubeen Garg to pay tribute to him.

The opening event will also see singer Shreya Ghoshal performing the official World Cup anthem, Bring it Home. The ceremony will set the stage for the 13th edition of the Women's Cricket World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. This is the fourth time India is hosting the tournament.
