The first Assamese woman to climb Mount Leo Pargil
Barasa Sarma of Pathshala in Bajali hoisted the Tricolour and the 'Assamese Gamosa' on the summit of Mount Leo Pargil (6,791 m). It's a proud moment for Assam and Assamese people. Barasa Sarma of Pathshala became the first Assamese woman to do so. Barasa Sarma of the five-member group of mountaineers was the only woman and the only mountaineer from Assam to reach the summit. The expedition team was led by Bhuvneshwer Singh and included Shovik, Anshul, Kanvar, and Barasa Sarma. Barasa later informed this reporter about her achievement.
