Today is the Vishwakarma Puja of Sri Sri "Vishwa Khanikor"

Today, September 17, on the 'Sankranti day' of the Assamese month of "Bhad", Vishwakarma Puja is being celebrated across the country.  Vishwakarma Puja is a religious festival of followers of Hinduism. Vishwakarma is considered to be the creator of the world. He is said to have built the city of Dwarka, the capital of Lord Krishna. In addition he made the Golden Lanka of Ravana, the Maya Sabha of the Pandavas, the Pushpak Rath of Brahma, the Trident of Shiva, the weapons of Kuver, the various vehicles of the Gods, the Devapuri, the Sudarshan Chakra of Vishnu, the Thunder of Indra and many imaginary weapons for the Gods. It is said that the famous Jagannath Statue of Puri was also made by this Vishwakarma.

Vishwakarma usually has a 'Tulasoni' in his hand. This comparison is considered to be a symbol of action. He always maintained equanimity on both sides. On the other hand he has a hammer in his hand as a symbol of a God of art miner.

Vishwakarma Puja has been celebrated since ancient times. Vishwakarma Puja is mentioned in the 'Skanda Purana'. To be known, Dwarka was built by Vishwakarma at the request of Lord Krishna. In return, Lord Krishna granted a boon to Vishwakarma that the artists would worship him as a deity. For years since then Sri Sri Vishwakarma Puja is celebrated on the Sankranti day of the month of Bhad. Everyone is worshipping the 'Vishwa Khanikor' today with great enthusiasm to increase their business establishment, work efficiency and to progress in their respective fields with the blessings of Vishwakarma Baba for the year.
