On the second day of the Winter Session of the Assam Assembly, two new bills and 8 amendment bills were introduced

Wednesday is the second day of the Winter Session of the Assam Assembly. During this period, 10 bills were introduced in the House. Two of these bills are new and 8 are amendment bills. The two new bills are the Nerim University Bill 2025 and the Azim Premji University Bill. On the other hand, the amendment bills that have been introduced are: 

1. The Missing Autonomy (Amendment) Bill, 2025

2. The Rabha Hasong Autonomy     (Amendment) Bill, 2025

3. The Tiwa Autonomy (Amendment) Bill, 2025

4. The Deori Autonomy (Amendment) Bill, 2025

5. The Sonowal Kachari Autonomy (Amendment) Bill, 2025

6. The Thengal Kachari Autonomy (Amendment) Bill, 2025

7. The Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomy  (Amendment) Bill, 2025 

8. The Private Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Amendment Bill, 2025. 

          All the bills were introduced in the House by Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu.

It is to be noted that the NERIM University Bill, 2025 is one of the two bills that have been introduced in the House. Similarly, through the Azim Premji University Bill, 2025, a World-class university will be set up in Assam. The Azim Premji Foundation will set up a University at a cost of over Rs 1000 crore. Where 10,000 students can study. The University will be set up in Palashbari and is a nonprofit University.
